It is a scientific fact that germs or microorganisms cause bad odors in our persons. The main cause of halitosis is when a certain kind
of bacteria in your mouth grow out of hand. It is when the wrong type of bacteria in your mouth take over. These kinds of germs are
the kinds of germs which don't use oxygen but instead grow with sulfur. These kinds of germs create what are called Volatile Sulfur
Compounds or VSCs. Compounds with sulfur in them typically have a bad smell so these kinds of germs then give your mouth a bad smell.
So, then what makes these bacteria take control?
- A medical condition called Dry Mouth is the most common cause of chronic bad breath. A lack of saliva is actually bad for your mouth.
When your mouth is not producing enough saliva, there is not enough saliva to wash away germs from your mouth and this can cause too
many germs to grow there. There are many potential causes of dry mouth including some kinds of medications. Your health care practitioner
should be kept aware of your dry mouth condition.
- Some kinds of infections in your head can cause too many germs to live in your mouth. These include sinus infections, congestion,
and post nasal drainage problems. The formation of a coat or film on the tongue made out of bacteria can happen in these cases.
- Dental infections, such as infections of a tooth or of the gums can be a source of extra bacteria in your mouth.
- Certain kinds of diseases can make a film or layer which is made out of bacteria coat your tongue. These diseases include liver failure,
kidney problems, or diabetes.
